In case you were wondering

For some reason I made it through the entire day of work yesterday without anyone having a 'talk' with me. Looks like I am still employed for the foreseeable future. After work I took the redeye to New Jersey to see my mom. I am currently hiding from her in my childhood room. Thankfully there has been one major Easter miracle this weekend. I am able to poach internet service off her neighbor.

Praise the lord.

at my friend's company, there is a guy who went on vacation, and when he comes back they plan on firing him. They even hired someone new and mailed his last check while he was away.

Dear Barry:

I am certain that you will consider this an unorthodox notification, but your job here has never been orthodox.

This blog comment serves as a confirmation of our previous discussions in which you were notified that your contract employment with our company was coming to an end. It has come to an end effective, Friday, April 14, 2006. Your final paycheck was deposited in your account this afternoon in the usual manner.

We thank you for your contributions to the Company and wish you well in your future endeavors.

Best wishes,
Tie

That would have been finnier if you spelled Ty correctly

It's kind of a chicken move, but a lot of companies will fire someone upon returning from a vacation...means you eat up your days off (they don't owe you anything) and they have time to figure out the transition before you're back in. Then the HR person whacks you before the day gets too old your first time back. Kind of cruel...
