Getting closer by the day

Has everyone got their bets in as to when my last day will be? Now granted this all could be coincidental, but here are my reasons why I think Friday is the end:

1. It has been mentioned that my contract is up for renewal.
2. My boss stopped assigning me work even though he knows I am not busy.
3. I am going away on Friday. Don't they always get rid of people right before vacations, or is it after?
4. No one will look me in the eye today.
5. Someone took my stapler.

I made up 4 and 5.

Monkey better start turning tricks so he can support his two loser parents.

you have something else lined up? Maybe get a severance package? Guessing not since you're a consultant...

No severance. Nothing lined up. Might take this time to find something I really want to do. Then again I haven't been canned yet. This all may be a case of serious paranoia.

Actually, today's the day. Clean out your desk, security will be here in 10 minutes to escort you out of the building.

Don't sweat the (hypothetical) layoff. It's not like being out of work in this town is something unusual. People will think you got a promotion. Just call ahead to reserve your seat at the Coffee Bean, since it tends to get busy at 11am on Mondays.

Less time working means more time writing! Just tell people you're "between projects."

Barry... Touché!
I am so touched in that uncomfortably affectionate way to have been included in your blog.

I must say, I had a dandy time as well last evening and I am relieved
I was able to bring enough eggs to be seen as half scrambled, as opposed to
completely fried.

Actually, it seems we both get our stories out of this fabulous evening of folly. I must (as any shiksa would do) correct one thing though. The "honest" statement about how I feel regarding dating Jewish men...that one? Actually, what I said was (T.I.C.) "Well, generally they're the most rye and certainly the ones I've found to be most honest" ... I think you only came in on the latter half of that. Just the same, it was a complete pleasure to be asked to Bruce's Seder, minus all the pomp and circumstance. All of which I had scoured on the internet for so as to be ready. I find it quite interesting how your sibling was also well roasted and given a thumbs down by everyone as to his capability at being a decent suitor... ashame really, I would love to see y'all again.
"Oy".... Jewish humor, gotta love it. I learn so much everyday, and yes, I do have plenty for a story. It is one of the most honest and fun evenings I have had in quite some time, and I enjoyed being able to compare "Gentile" notes with Sarah as well.

We may never be face to face again, but we've always words to paint our realities fantastic!
Warmly,
"The guest of some note"
